Mike has over 20 years of experience in the communications and high technology sector, with a particular focus on branding, new product development and innovation, and advertising evaluation. Mike has worked with most of the major telecommunications companies. Before joining Zanthus, Mike headed the information technology research unit at Market Strategies, Inc., where he was a vice president. He has also worked on the client side of the business, including an eight-year stint as a senior research manager and a strategic planner for a major telecommunications company.
Mike has a B.S in Business Administration, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Oregon.

Running, road biking, skiing, reading.

Sarah K. Kyle
Director of Operations & Human Resources
Sarah uses her superior organizational skills to hold everything together. She coordinates all projects, working directly with vendors and staff. Human Resources and Operations are also Sarah's realm. Formerly a project manager with The Gartner Group, she has also managed a Brookstone outlet and her family's restaurant. Sarah has been involved with market research for over 10 years and has been with Zanthus since August 2000.
Sarah holds a B.S. in Business Administration, with a minor in Psychology, from Portland State University.
Hobbies
Gardening, traveling, fishing, scuba diving.

Sarah L. Marin
Senior Research Consultant
Sarah is a seasoned researcher with over 15 years' experience in the telecommunications industry. She currently manages projects related to the convergence of telecommunications and personal computing devices, with a particular emphasis on wireless innovations. In addition, she has proven expertise in the area of marketing message testing. Her attention to the details enables Sarah to adroitly manage complex multi-stage or multi-method studies, with populations ranging from business decision-makers to company employees to consumers. Her clients include Sprint Nextel, Qwest, Cingular, MCI and BellSouth. Prior to joining Zanthus in 2001, Sarah worked as Study Director at Market Strategies, Inc. and as Project Manager for Market Trends, Inc.
A native Oregonian, Sarah holds a B.A. in Communications from Lewis & Clark College with a concentration in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications.

Gardening, travel, fitness walking, trying new restaurants, volunteering at school, keeping up with the kids.

Teleportation—the ability to instantly transport myself to another place—primarily to avoid 15-hour international flights with two fidgety boys!
Doug Wicks
Senior Research Consultant
Doug has worked as a consultant and researcher for 12 years, working closely with clients in the high tech, telecommunications, and media industries. Recent client work includes two of the top three wireless companies, a regional Bell, CABA / Internet Home Alliance, and Equinix. Doug is skilled at managing both qualitative and quantitative studies across assessment areas, but has a particular fascination with new product development and innovation. Before joining Zanthus, Doug worked at Market Strategies, Inc. and prior to that, spent 10 years in the television industry.
Doug holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University's College of Communication, and an M.A. in Communications Management from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California. Doug is also a member of the American Marketing Association.
Hobbies
Reading industry trades and the New York Times, hiking, skiing, cycling, playing soccer and baseball with his son, and remodeling the house - though not necessarily in that order.

To make magical things happen merely by wiggling my nose (à la Tabitha on the TV show Bewitched).
Carole Wiedmeyer
Senior Research Consultant
Carole has many years of experience in research as well as in marketing communications. Before joining Zanthus, she was a senior researcher with Gartner, where she directed a wide variety of projects for major technology vendors. She also has worked in research and marketing for an international airport, and managed public relations for a university.
She holds a B.A. in Journalism with an Economics minor from Western Washington University, and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Arizona State University. Carole has earned Professional Researcher Certification (PRC) from the Marketing Research Association.
Hobbies
Reading, writing, gardening, travel and scuba diving. Combining some (or all) of these together is even better.
Desired superpower
To breathe water. What a joy it would be, gliding gracefully alongside the fish, free of clumsy air tanks and noisy bubbles.

Amanda Durkee
Senior Research Consultant
Amanda has over eight years of experience managing research studies of both domestic and international scope for high-tech companies. She has worked on an even mix of quantitative and qualitative projects at Zanthus, primarily relating to new product development, messaging and positioning and customer satisfaction. She particularly enjoys the creative challenge of uncovering motivations for consumer behavior as well as stepping back to translate research findings into meaningful recommendations. She is a skilled moderator with training from the RIVA Training Institute, a premier qualitative training firm.
Prior to joining Zanthus, she worked as a research consultant for several other firms, including BN Research and Gartner, and survived a brief foray in corporate planning and development at a biotechnology startup.
Amanda has a B.A. in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and an MBA from Willamette University with an emphasis in Statistics and Marketing.
Hobbies
Snowboarding, hiking, road biking, gardening (pretty much anything that allows me to be outside), yoga, traveling, and doting on my two little dogs.

Brian Moffett
Research Consultant
Brian set his sights on research-informed consulting after brief forays in state government and circuit board manufacturing. He has seven years of experience in the research field, five of them at Zanthus, and is particularly adept at managing complex quantitative studies, including attitude and behavior trackers. Before joining Zanthus, Brian was a project manager at Lieberman Research Worldwide and a research consultant with Rubenstein Justman Management Consultants.
Brian earned his B.S. in History and Religious Studies at Willamette University and his MBA at the University of Oregon.
Hobbies
Determining how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop; virtual online quilting; watching spelling bees in a foreign language I don’t speak; collecting velvet, glow-in-the-dark fine-art reproduction paintings; supporting my non-profit organization Pink Flamingo Lawn Ornament Rescue and Rehabilitation (garden gnomes also welcome); adding to my Alvin and the Chipmunks 8-track tape collection; oh, and spending time with my family.

Carolyn Stapleton
Senior Data Analyst
Carolyn has worked in primary market research since 1993. At Zanthus, she’s responsible for data processing, multivariate analysis and simulator development. Prior to joining Zanthus, Carolyn worked at Griggs-Anderson Research/Gartner, where she gained a reputation for being detailed and dependable and producing high-quality work. She worked as a proofreader/editor for four years before moving into the production programming department. There, she supervised the cross-tab group for two years.
Carolyn has a B.A. in English Literature from Trinity University in San Antonio, with coursework in European Studies from the University of Antwerp in Belgium.
Hobbies
Coaching youth soccer, reading The Economist, and exploring and enjoying Oregon's great outdoors.

Patty Arnold
Web Survey Programmer
Patty has 13 years' experience programming market research surveys and processing the resultant data. She developed her coding, data tabulation and programming expertise working for a variety of Portland-area research firms, including Market Trends, Griggs-Anderson Research and BN Research. She brings a reputation for rock-solid survey programming to Zanthus.
Patty holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing from Central Washington University.
Hobbies
Reading, driving kids around town, attending kids' sporting events, and (not surprisingly) kid stuff in general.

Kevin Congdon
Programmer/Data Analyst
Kevin has been involved in market research (mainly research for the high-tech sector) for the past 15 years; starting on the ground floor as a telephone interviewer and quickly advancing into programming and data analysis. As a quick study, he has engaged in many project phases at one time or another, including survey programming, data tabulation, graphics-based reporting, and logistical coordination. On the data analysis side, Kevin has extensive experience with WinCross and SPSS packages, has had an introduction into more complex statistical analyses (such as Structural Equation Modeling), and has worked with Quantum and SAS.
Kevin holds an Associate Degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technologist.
Hobbies
Listening to music, dancing, reading (mostly Sci-Fi and/or horror novels).

The ability to turn into an animal (preferably some sort of feline).
Kristina Murray
Operations/Publishing Manager
Kristi has worked in the market research field for the past nine years. She has extensive experience assisting with both quantitative and qualitative research projects. Previously, she worked as an Associate Project Manager at Market Strategies where she managed projects in the high-tech, telecommunications, and utilities sectors. She also has experience as a computer graphics coordinator, building sales presentations, research reports and marketing slicks. As our resident Microsoft products expert, Kristi is adept at using PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other applications.

Amanda has worked in the market research field for the past five years. Her main function at Zanthus is creating detail-rich, visually appealing graphical reports and presentations for our clients. She has experience in assisting with scheduling and facilitating focus groups and in-depth interviews, as well as tracking and support of consumer product testing. Previously, she worked as a Project Services Coordinator at Gartner, where she was responsible for tracking, facilitating, and supporting various long-term research projects.
